SmartFax: Review & Comparison

SmartFax Review Summary: SmartFax’s Local Plan has the lowest monthly fee of any of the fax services (tied with SRFax’s Ultra-Lite Plan), and offers a 30-day free trial to test out the service. The two biggest drawbacks are that they only offer local numbers in 25 states (you can get a toll-free number, if you’re not in one of those states) and they don’t send delivery confirmation when your fax is sent.

Smartfax Review 2016

SmartFax is a decent online fax service as long as you don’t need to fax more than 250 pages per month or a local number.

Smartfax offers a basic online faxing service with a budget price. At $6.95 per month and no setup fee, it’s one of the cheapest online faxing plans out there. Smartfax also offers a free 30-day trial. However, this service is best for businesses that won’t have a lot of volume and aren’t looking for extras. For that price, you get an assigned local (if available) or toll free fax number, and a maximum of 250 inbound and outbound pages per month. Smartfax offers international faxing, with a caveat: faxes sent outside the U.S. and Canada are billed according to SmartFax’s standard international price list on a per-minute basis in one-minute increments.

Smartfax also offers 30 days of free storage, after which faxes are charged $0.05 per fax, per month. While Smartfax is easy to use and very economical, it doesn’t have great picture quality, and is only available in 25 states. Smartfax also doesn’t offer 24/7 customer support or mobile apps and cannot send more than five documents at once, making it a better choice for those who need only very basic fax services.
